COUNTY COMMISSION GIVES GREENLIGHT TO OFFSHORE INLAND

Pensacola, Fla. – The Escambia County Board of Commissioners agreed to move forward with incentive negotiations with Offshore Inland regarding their plans to expand in Pensacola.

Offshore Inland is the premier steel fabrication, topside repair, machining and engineering resource on the Gulf Coast. Based in Mobile, Ala., the company established a presence in Pensacola last year. Offshore Inland’s expansion in Pensacola would create an additional 50 to 100 jobs with more than $2 million in annual payroll.

“This is a chance to support a company in a growing industry with significant long-term potential, and we are excited to have this opportunity,” said Charles Wood, senior vice president with the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce who gave a presentation on the project during the meeting.

Wood indicated the company’s average wage is approximately $19 per hour.

The county agreed to offer incentives to move the expansion forward, including a $50,000 Economic Development Incentive grant upon Offshore Inland’s hiring of the first 50 employees. An additional $50,000 grant would be allocated if the company reaches 100 employees in Escambia County. The county developed the incentive grant program last year as a means to grow high-wage jobs. The program was most recently utilized for Navy Federal Credit Union’s $81 million expansion in Cantonment.

Offshore Inland’s expansion plans call for leasing additional space at the Port of Pensacola. The project is contingent upon an agreement to be made with the City of Pensacola.
